Penny Marshall as "Ms. Botz"
Homer and Marge are going for a night out, and need a babysitter to stay back with the three children. After difficulty finding a sitter, Homer settles on Ms. Botz. The selection turns sour when after Homer and Marge take off, Ms. Botz ties up the young Simposns, and starts robbing the house of it's valuables. The criminal is put to a stop when Bart, Lisa, and Maggie work in trapping the bandit. Upon his return, Homer thinks that the now tied-up babysitter was simply a victim of more antics from Bart, and lets the criminal back on the streets.

Herb Powell is Homer's upbeat half brother who is sensible, but at the same time will tell you what's on his mind. Herb had a successful yet lonely life in Detroit as a car company owner until he got word of his brother Homer, and his hard work started to unfold. He invited the Simpson family up to visit, and soon after giving Homer creative control of the company, he went backrupt. In his second episode appearance, Herb came to Springfield to ask Homer for a loan to get his career back on tracks. 2000$, a brilliant invention, and a patched up sibling rivalry tied up all the loose ends.

When Homer's new head of hair wins him a promotion at the Nuclear Powerplant, he begins looking for an assistant to lessen his work load. After multiple interviews, he selects Karl to be his go to guy, and he subs in as the perfect candidate. He inspires his boss with a higher degree of confidence and self appreciation. However, when Homer's hair-grow bottle runs dry, he's demoted, and Karl's job is over.

Homer's crowd controlling antics at his annual company baseball game turns into a full time job when he's spotted by the Isotopes owner. He's offered and accepts the mascot position, where his work doesn't go unnoticed. Homer gets a call from the New York squad to come help out the their team. He and his family travel to the Big Apple, where Homer realizes he's nothing in comparison to the Capitol City Goofball.

The Simpson family gets a scare during at a Japanese restaurant outing gone wrong. Homer orders the whole menu unaware that one of the delcasies is poisonous if not prepared correctly. With the head chef "busy", Takira is given the job of cooking the deadly treat. Once the head chef gets his hands free, he believes that the meal was made incorrectly, and that Homer's life could be in danger.

Santa's Little Helper's 'tearing' up the house gets to be too much when the Simpsons are being affected by their dogs behaviour. Not wanting to give him away, Bart enrols his dog into an obedience school. The head teacher (Ullman) is a hardnosed educator who believes the best way to teach the mutt, is to use force against it. Despite Bart's objection, in the long run she turns out to be right, with SLH learns Bart's commands, and is once again accepted in the Simpson house.

It's love at first site for Abe Simpson when he meets a Springfield Retirement inhabitant Bea Simmons. The two hit it off, and begin to date. A few days after, Abe gets ready to take his new girlfriend for a night on the town when Homer and company haul him off to the Lion Safari. Grandpa's refusal to go is useless, and eventually gets back to the Retirement Castle, he learns Bea passed away the night before. Abe is left with six thousand dollars from her will, and a broken heart.

Ms. Hoover leaves Lisa's grade two class in the hands of Mr. Bergstrom - a compassionate substitute whose open and caring personality strikes a chord with Lisa. She immediately takes a shine to him, and is more enlightened upon every school day. She gets ready to ask Mr. Bergstrom to dinner at her house, but when she sees Ms. Hoover back behind the desk, she goes on an escapade to trace down the substitute. She locates him at the train station, on his way to other substitute jobs, and although Lisa is sad to see her favourite teacher go, she realizes it's what has to be done.

Homer's pink shirt raises eyebrows at the Nuclear Powerplant to the point where Mr. burns has the employee fill out a survey to test his mental ability. When he fails miserably, he's placed into a mental institution and paired up with a roommate who claims he's Michael Jackson. Not knowing any better, Homer goes along with it, and when released from the institute, he takes Michael with him. Bart gets word of the once pop sensation coming to their house, and spreads the rumour throughout Springfield. Upon his arrival back at home, Micheal and Homer are greeted by a large crowd who isn't happy with seeing a large white man come out of the car. (and it's not Homer)

Krusty's emotional dinner with the Simpsons strikes a cord with Bart and Lisa. The clown explains his hidden past and how is father, a respected Rabbi wanted him to follow in his footsteps. Krusty had a different future in mind, and when his father saw him performing at a Talmud conference as a clown, he abruptly left, and the two haven't talked since. Bart and Lisa seek out the Rabbi in hope of reuniting the pair, but the stubborn Krustofsky refuses to back down. After much trial and error, they manage to get to the Rabbi who agrees to meet with his son. Both are happy to see one another, and decades of frustration is erased.

Stress of a job and family get to Homer who drives off one night in search of a new bar. He comes across a roudy joint on the highway, where a folk singer Lurleen wins his heart. Moved by her song, he offers to manage her in hope of jump starting her career. She gladly accepts, and instantly takes a liking to the father of three. Marge isn't happy with the time her husband is spending with Lurleen but Homer assures it's strictly business. His faithfulness is put to the test when Lurleen makes a move on him. At the last moment, he leaves the heartbroken singer, and returns to his wife who couldn't be happier.

In order to pay for the first edition Radio Active Man comic, Bart starts doing chores on the side to earn a few extra bucks. Ms. Quick gets word from Marge of Bart's predicament and offers Bart some work at her house. Bart spends two days doing the dirty work for Ms. Quick, and when he finishes, his anticipation for the pay check is crushed when his hefty reward is 50 cents.

Bart and Milhouse's friendship is put on hold when a new girl in town catches the eye of Milhouse. The two hook up, and Bart quickly gets tired of being the third wheel. When Milhouse asks his 'best pal' to use his treehouse for him and Samantha, Bart agrees, only to call the girl's father over for a peek. Samantha is put into an all girls school and though mad at Bart and first, Milhouse manages to forgive his now 'once again' best friend.

The Simpsons get new neighbours, and it's love at first site for Bart. A 12-year old girl, now living just a few paces off from the Simpsons is found to be irresistible by Bart who insists she babysit when both Homer and Marge are going out. His increased sophistication doesn't bode well for him when his attempt to woo over Laura is thwarted by a Jimbo appearance. To rid his house of the bully, Bart prank calls Moe under Jimbo's name, and leaves his address. When a crazed Moe shows up to slice Jimbo in half, his toughness doesn't show, and after the problem is resolved he leaves. As for Laura and Bart, they go on being friends.

Mr. Burns is forced to hire a female employee, and the whole plant isn't excited about the opposite sex newcomer. Homer shares the same thoughts until he sees his coworkers is very attractive, and enjoys beer and doughnuts. Homer finds himself constantly tempted his female counterpart, and works on avoiding her in his daily routine. However, when the plant has to pick it's King and Queen, they decide on Homer and Mindy. The two are awarded a trip to New York, much to Homer's disappointment. In the big apple, things get worse. Homer comes face to face with his urges, and at the last second, he calls up Marge to join him. Although Mindy feels rejected, Homer knows he made the right choice.

A cat burglar sweeps through Springfield, and the whole town is affected. When Lisa's saxophone is stolen, Homer vows revenge, so starts a security squad to pinpoint the thief. After getting word of the bandits next target is a giant jewel, Homer's team goes to work in covering every meter of the surrounding area. The thief is still able to get past the eye watchers, and Homer's 'crime busting team' is considered a mockery. The robber is finally caught by none other than Abe Simpson and locked away. He gives the town their belongings back and the location of his money stash. Springfieldians rush to the area only to find a note from the crafty swine indicating he had spent the time escaping from jail.

Outraged with her new 'woman generalizing' talking Malibu Stacy, Lisa feels she can set things straight if she takes her case up with the original Malibu Stacy. The tired out Stacy agrees to help Lisa with her quest by creating a new, positive doll. There doll hits the market which worries Malibu Stacy owners who feel it will hurt their sales. They give their Stacy a new look, and just as Lisa's doll gets in stores, the kids are already overwhelmed by the 'new and improved' Malibu. Stacy Lavelle, after losing a ton of money in the investment, goes back to her alcoholic ways.

Lisa's met her match when a new student enters her grade two class who is both younger and smarter than she is. Feeling threatened that her 'smartest kid in the class title' may be in danger, Lisa works on the upcoming diarama, hoping to beat the younger competitor. When Lisa loses first chair saxophone to the newcomer, she decides to up the anti. On diarama presentation day, Lisa (with the aid of Bart) replaces Allison's work with a cows heart. After witnissing Allison break down in tears when Principal Skinner is appalled, she retrieves the real diarama. Much to her surprise, neither her nor Allison take home first place, so both gracious in defeat, they decide to be friends.

Bart becomes entranced by the Revorand's daughter (Jessica) and works on wooing the youngest Lovejoy. His first approach is taking the innocent 'good boy' route, but quickly learns that's not the angle she's interested in. Jessica fancy's the trouble making boys, much to Bart's relief. However, when she swipes the collection plate money in church and blames it on the Bart, he realizes this isn't the girl he's looking for. The town is convinced that the thief was the work of the problem Simpson child, instead of the innocent Jessica. When they find the money in her room, Bart is off the hook, but more importantly knows that all girls aren't always how they appear.

The Simpsons planned vacation is cancelled when just before take off Marge demands to get off the plane. Over the next few days, her tension rises to the point where Homer is forced to send her to a psychiatrist. Through extensive lesson's Zwieg is able to get to the route of Marge's "fear of flying". Thankful for curing her, Marge and the Simpsons head off on their scheduled trip.

Homer gets word of a new club known as the stonecutters, and he wants in. Through much hassle and initiation, Homer is able to earn membership in the selective group. His poor eating manners are revealed at a club feast, and the head stonecutter (Stewart) bans him from the squad. However, when he notices Homer's birth mark is shaped exactly like the stonecutter symbol, he is convinced that Homer is the 'chosen one'. Not only is he let back into the club, but he is made the new leader. After abusing his power, Number One leads the members into a different organization, and Homer is once again left as the odd man out.

Showing up late on gym class choosing day proves to be a poor choice for Bart when 'ballet' is the only remaining sport. Reluctant to participate, the ballet teacher sees potential in Bart, and works on boosting his confidence. Her encouragement turns fatal when Bart is given the main role in the ballet presentation, and is later beat up because of it.

In a story of Lisa's future, it is revealed that she falls in love with a fellow College mate 'Hugh'. After a rough start, the two hit it off great, and he proposes to Lisa. She happily accepts, and excitement is ramped until Hugh has the 'pleasure' of meeting the rest of the Simpson family. Homer and Bart's pitch to make Hugh feel at home fails miserably. The engaged couple truck on, but hit another speed bump just before the ceremony. When Hugh informs Lisa that he can't wait to leave her family behind him, Lisa is worried that marrying her love will come without having relations with her family. The marriage is called off, and Lisa's future love story comes to an end.

Ron Taylor lends his voice for two episodes as a jazz musician who expresses his feelings through his saxophone. When Lisa got a case of the blues, she ran to the musician in hope of ridding her sadness through music. Bleeding Gums Murphy showed her the true meaning of the blues, and Lisa's depression went away. Upon his reappearance, Lisa finds her old mentor in a hospital, saxophone still in hand. The two play the blues just like old times, and when Lisa informs the musician of her upcoming music recital, he lends his legendary sax to the eight-old. Lisa plays through the roof that night, but her excitement is brought to a halt when she learns Bleeding Gums Murphy had passed away.

Homer is overjoyed when his mother who had abandoned him as a child shows up in Springfield to say hello. The excitement of seeing is mother pushes aside the question as to just why she has decided to finally show up. When the Simpson family finally confront grandmother Simpson on her background, she reveals she was involved in a lab tampering, and has been running from the law for 25 years. The man she's been hiding from is none other than C. Montgomery Burns, who recognizes the culprit at the post office. When Burns with the FBI behind him come looking for the unnamed Simpson, Homer helps his mother flee from the scene, but at least this goodbye has Homer knowing that he has a mother who cares about him.

Lisa's history assignment on Jebidiah Springfield pulls up a bit more than typical facts about the town's hero. She learns that the city founder was actually a vicious pirate 'Hans Sprungfeld'. Her project isn't accepted by Ms. Hoover, or the local historian, Hullis Hurlbut (Sutherland) who bans Lisa from the Jebidiah Springfield exhibit. Still, Lisa pursues on her mission to show the town who their true 'hero' really is, and prove the historian wrong. When she finds the facts to back up her case, Hulburt admits he know all along of Jebidiah's evil ways, but couldn't risk losing his profession. Lisa prepares to present the facts to the town of Springfield, but before crushing people's beliefs, she decides her knowledge would be better kept a secret.

During the Itchy and Scratchy parade, Bart encounters a homeless man (Douglas) who claims he was the true inventor of the cartoon. To back up his case, he shows Bart a tape of the first Itchy and Scratchy created by himself. Bart offers to help the man to sue Roger Meyers Jr. company to get what is rightfully his. After an exhausting trial, the now not so homeless man finds himself wit 40 million dollars in his pocket, but more importantly, Roger Meyers finds his industry bankrupt. The 40 million dollar man has no intention of restarting the company leaving Bart wondering if he made the right decision.

An out of work Troy McClure gets a call from his agent for the first time in years when the once-famous movie star is seen with a female (Selma). His sleazy agent pushes Troy to get married as the publicity was pouring in roles for him to play. The stunt works, and after getting married and staring in Planet of the Apes, Parker ups the anti and tells his client if he has a baby, he can land the role of McBain's sidekick in the upcoming McBain movie.

Homer uproots the family to Cyprus Creek, where Homer's new boss Hank Scorpio (Brooks) turns out to be an up-beat super-villain. Since Homer is on the inside, Hank treats the Simpsons provider in a manner he never knew back in Springfield. Getting respect and admiration from his co-workers is a considerable upgrade from his treatment at the Nuclear Powerplant, and the new work environment distracts Homer altogether from his boss's 'secret' life. Unfortunately, when the rest of the Simpsons don't mesh with the community, the family travel back to Springfield where the Denver Broncos are waiting as a present from Hank. Not exactly what Homer was hoping for.

After spotting his dad on a train, Larry Burns (Dangerfield) decides to pay a visit to the father he never met, Monty Burns. It turns out that Larry's sarcastic horse-playing doesn't match his father's elegant lifestyle, but the powerplant owner does his best to welcome his long-lost child. Larry is placed in Sector 7G, where he and his co-worker Homer have more than one thing in common. Meanwhile, Mr. Burns works on giving Larry a more proper behaviour, but his embarrassment only escalates. Feeling unwanted, Larry calls on Homer to help capture some of Burns Sr.'s attention. He decides to devise a fake-kidnapping, but the result only leads Homer in hot water. When the ploy is discovered, Burns father and son agree they're too different, and Larry heads back home.

Marge's conservative business mind gets her booted out of Springfield Investorettes which leads her searching for a new industry to own. The Simpons attend the local Franchise Expo the following week, but Marge can't fine a corporation to settle on. Smooth talking Frank Ormand (Lemmon) manages to get Marge aboard the pretzel wagon but his help doesn't extend much further. Marge faces stiff competition from her old team mates, holding her revenue to a minimum. Homer looks for a helping hand from Frank but when he discovers he recently died in a car crash, he looks for a little outside help.

Homer takes a liking to a friendly store owner (Waters) and invites the stranger over to his house. The two enjoy a wonderful evening until Homer learns that his new pal is a ho-mo-sexual. Taking offence, Homer disassociates himself with John altogether and soon becomes certain that John's influence has turned Bart gay. Homer tries to correct his son with some 'manly' activities and after failed attempts to turn him straight, he takes Bart hunting. The hunters become the hunted when Santa's unhappy reindeer gather around the Simpson men and begin softening Homer up with painful blows to the stomach. In an unexpected twist, John heroically rushes to the scene, scaring off the reindeer and at the same time changing Homer's views on homosexuals.

Chaos unfolds when Bart gets drunk on St. Patrick's Day. Oddly enough, during the dispute, it is discovered that prohibition was never lifted from the town of Springfield. Mayor Quimby appeases his protesters by enforcing the banishment of alcohol, placing Chief Clancy Wiggum in charge of the entire operation. However, when the alcohol consumption proceeds thanks to sloppy police work, Quimby fires Wiggum and enlists hardnosed investigator Rex Banner. (Thomas) Banner's straight-to-the point, humourless attitude can't cut off a mysterious beer baron (Homer) who keeps supplying the town with alcohol. Once Homer's source eventually dries up, he helps out an old friend by revealing his underground beer smuggling method to Wiggum, catapulting him back to police chief and Rex Banner right out of Springfield. (no pun intended)

Lisa becomes the first girl at the military academy under the commandant's (Dafoe) reign. Hoping for a challenge, Lisa instead find herself in a nightmare with unfriendly adversaries and a stereo-typical drill sergeant constantly barking orders. Sticking it out, she makes it through the semester and earns the respect of her commanding officer who awards the Lisa with a medal of honour.
